Ok, I found the Ledger and before returning it to finish the quest, I entered the cave. I cleared it and then I couldn't return to the island. I couldn't understand what it was asked of me to do. After a few runs in the caves and a lot of search I finally decided to die in order to respawn outside. What's the proper way to exit the cave?

Anyone know if the quest item that stays in your bags after the quest is completed (the Forgotten Ledger) is used for anything?
